JAZZWA (The Jazz Co-ordination Association of WA inc) is a not-for-profit organisation which was established in 1983 for the purposes of promoting and developing Western Australian jazz music and musicians statewide, nationally and internationally. It is managed by a committee of jazz enthusiasts, musicians, educators, arts managers and promoters.
Constitutional Objectives:
• To encourage greater appreciation of Jazz in all its styles, past and present
without regard to the age, gender or cultural background of the participants
• To increase the profile of WA Jazz performers through the creation of local,
national and international performance opportunities.
• To maintain and increase funding for Jazz activities in WA and to improve
access to such funding for unincorporated individual artists and groups.
• To assist in the co-ordination of Jazz events in WA and to promote better
understanding between all sections of the music industry.
• To encourage the composition and promotion of original WA Jazz works.
